Auto Mains Failure panels for DG sets from 10 kVA to 3000 kVA
An AMF (Auto Mains Failure) panel watches the incoming mains supply, starts the diesel generator automatically when the mains fails or goes outside voltage and frequency limits, transfers the load to the DG once it has stabilised, and transfers back and cools down the engine when mains returns — all without an operator. Accu-Panels Energy manufactures AMF panels for single DG sets from 10 kVA to 3000 kVA, and multi-DG synchronising panels for larger installations, on its CPRI type-tested IEC 61439 platform in Ahmedabad.
- Mains monitoring: the AMF controller checks all three phases for under/over-voltage, under/over-frequency and phase failure.
- Start delay: a short timer (typically 2–10 s) ignores momentary dips.
- Engine start: up to three crank attempts; alarms on fail-to-start.
- Warm-up and transfer: after the DG reaches rated voltage and frequency, the mains contactor/breaker opens and the DG contactor/breaker closes (electrically and mechanically interlocked).
- Return to mains: when mains is healthy for the return delay, load transfers back.
- Cool-down and stop: the engine runs unloaded for 2–5 minutes, then stops and returns to standby.

AMF vs ATS vs synchronising panel
An ATS / auto changeover panel only switches between two live sources. An AMF panel additionally starts, monitors and stops the DG engine. A synchronising panel runs two or more sources in parallel with load sharing. Choose AMF for a single DG on standby; choose synchronising when you have multiple DGs, a solar plant that must run with the DG, or need no-break transfer.
Frequently asked questions
How fast does an AMF panel restore power?
Typically 10 to 20 seconds from mains failure to DG on load, set by the start delay, crank time and warm-up timers.
Contactor or breaker changeover?
Contactors are economical up to about 630 A. Above that, or where short-circuit withstand matters, motorised MCCBs or ACBs with mechanical interlocks are used.
Can the AMF panel work with any DG make?
Yes. The controller interfaces with the engine’s start, stop, fuel solenoid and sensor circuits; we configure it for your genset and can retrofit existing DGs.
Can I monitor the DG remotely?
Yes. Controllers with Modbus RTU/TCP or GSM options report status, alarms and fuel/hours to a BMS or mobile app.
