An auto changeover panel (automatic transfer switch, ATS) transfers the load between two supplies — mains and DG, two DISCOM feeders, two transformers or grid and solar-plus-storage — when the preferred source fails or drifts outside limits, and transfers back when it recovers. Accu-Panels Energy manufactures contactor, MCCB and ACB-based changeover panels from 32 A to 3200 A on its CPRI type-tested IEC 61439 platform in Ahmedabad, in open-transition, closed-transition and delayed-transition schemes.

Choosing the transfer scheme

Open transition (break-before-make) is the standard and simplest scheme: a brief interruption of 100 ms to a few seconds. Delayed transition adds an intentional off-time so motor loads decay before reconnection. Closed transition (make-before-break) parallels the two sources for under 100 ms for a no-break transfer, which requires synchronising check — see our synchronising panels. We recommend the scheme from your load type and the utility’s paralleling rules.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an auto changeover panel and an AMF panel?

The changeover panel only switches between two available sources. An AMF panel also starts, monitors and stops the DG engine. Many installations combine both functions in one panel.

Do I need a 4-pole changeover?

Yes when the two sources have separate neutrals or earthing systems (typical for DG and mains); a switched neutral prevents circulating currents and nuisance RCD tripping.

Can the panel be operated manually during maintenance?

Yes. Manual mode and, for critical loads, a bypass-isolation arrangement allow transfer and servicing without dropping the load.

Lead time?

2 to 4 weeks for contactor-based panels, 4 to 6 weeks for ACB-based panels after drawing approval.
